Reviews of the Book and Workbook "Innocence Betrayed"
March 28 Don't forget Earth Hour Saturday Night at 8 p.m. wherever you are!My friend, Maurice has sent out invitations for people to join Earth Hour, and I wanted to help spread the word: On March 29, 2008 at 8 p.m., join millions of people around the world in making a statement about climate change by turning off your lights for Earth Hour, an event created by the World Wildlife Fund. Earth Hour was created by WWF in Sydney, Australia in 2007, and in one year has grown from an event in one city to a global movement. In 2008, millions of people, businesses, governments and civic organizations in nearly 200 cities around the globe will turn out for Earth Hour. More than 100 cities across North America will participate, including the US flagships–Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix and San Francisco and Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. We invite everyone throughout North America and around the world to turn off the lights for an hour starting at 8 p.m. (your own local time)–whether at home or at work, with friends and family or solo, in a big city or a small town. What will you do when the lights are off? We have lots of ideas. Join people all around the world in showing that you care about our planet and want to play a part in helping to fight climate change. Don’t forget to sign up and let us know you want to join Earth Hour. One hour, America. Earth Hour. Turn out for Earth Hour! February 27 New Author - Controversial Subject I've co-authored my first book with my fiance and best friend, Curt, who's a fantastic storyteller with a great sense of humor. But he can get very serious when talking about what happened to his family after they went off to meet their new pastor one Sunday morning. We collaborated to write a story called Innocence Betrayed - A Dad's Story of Clergy Misconduct, based on Curt's true story. I knew nothing of this subject, but over the seven years it took to write the book, I learned so much--at times more than I wanted or needed. It's a subject that needs to be talked about and changes need to be made. We have a website for the book at www.innocencebetrayedbyclergy.com. It has a lot of information on the subject and where to go for help. We're trying to be more than published authors. We're on a mission to make people aware of what we know about the "signs" of how a predator can ease his way into a person's life. It may be a pastor, therapist, doctor, teacher or counselor. There's a "grooming process" that is used by many deviant authority figures. We want to share what we know. We'd like to get involved even more. I'd love to hear from people who have strong feelings about the subject and those looking for help. Helen |
